This old house is located in what they call a “Hollow” in West Virginia. A deep valley where it is usually hard to drive in and out.

I began this painting over 20 years ago. I was dissatisfied with it and it sat in the basement for the longest time. It would get moved occasionally and finally ended up next to the cat’s litter box. One day I stopped scooping long enough to make some critical decisions about the composition and perspective. I took it upstairs, gave it a good cleaning and cut about a foot off the right hand side. The remainder required some work but I am finally satisfied with the results.

A friend asked if he could have the piece that was removed, probably for his cat’s litter box.
