As a child in Nova Scotia, I spent many uncomfortable Sunday mornings sitting in the straight backed pews in this old church. Sadly, most of my recent visits involve funerals.

The architecture of the building is what inspired the painting. The minimalist windows with their square capped moldings are repeated throughout the building. The gothic arches in the top window panes were hand cut from sheets of copper.
